The quiz generator creates assessments from any topic or uploaded document. It supports multiple question types, difficulty levels, and can export to 30+ platforms.
How to generate a quiz
From a topic
- Go to Dashboard → Fred AI (or Tools → Quiz Generator)
- Enter your topic (e.g., “World War II causes and effects”)
- Configure your preferences:
- Quiz type: Assessment, Practice Quiz, or Review Quiz
- Number of questions: 1 to 20
- Difficulty: Easy, Medium, or Hard
- Question types: Multiple Choice, True/False, or Short Answer
- Optionally set:
- Time limit (0 for no limit, up to 180 minutes)
- Focus areas — specific subtopics to emphasize
- Exclude topics — areas to avoid
- Custom instructions — any special requirements
- Include hints — toggle on/off
- Click Generate
- Review and edit the generated questions
- Export to your preferred platform
From a document
- Go to Dashboard
- Upload a document or select one from Google Drive
- Formswrite analyzes the document and extracts questions automatically
- Review the extracted questions on the preview page
- Edit questions as needed (change type, modify options, update answers)
- Choose your destination platform and convert

After generation
Once your quiz is generated, you can:
- Edit any question — change text, options, or correct answers
- Add new questions — manually add questions to the generated set
- Remove questions — delete any that don’t fit
- Reorder questions — drag and drop to rearrange
- Save to question bank — store questions for future reuse
- Export — send to Google Forms, Kahoot, Canvas, or any supported platform
Questions are automatically saved to your Question Bank after conversion, so you can reuse them later.
